Fashion Designer. Musician. Artist. Author. Pop Icon. Like Andy Warhol, Richie Rich has had a major affect on pop culture in America. After 15 years of hard work, Richie Rich has built and created a lifestyle brand that truly cultivates the pop star in everyone. Glitter, sequins, and dreams have driven him every step of the way, transforming his fashion from the quintessential downtown buzz brand to a respected and revered player in the fashion industry. Richie Richs fashion shows are notoriously famous for being the hottest ticket in town during New Yorks fashion week attended by some of the worlds most famous celebrities, editors and the worldwide fashion and entertainment press corp.
Richie rose to fame in the world of fashion when he launched Heatherette in 1999. Richie showed up at a party in one of his own customized leather tops and caught the attention of a buyer at the downtown store Patricia Field, who ordered twenty of them on the spot. The exposure at Patricia Field led to an almost instant celebrity following. Rapper Foxy Brown personally asked Richie to design a custom outfit for her to wear to the MTV Video Music Awards. The word spread, and soon Gwen Stefani was featured wearing one of his tops in Entertainment Weekly, Rich suddenly found himself on tour with Aerosmith creating nightly wardrobe magic, and a young not-yet famous Paris Hilton was buying Heatherette creations off the rack as fast as Richie could crank them out. Patricia Field asked Richie to create one of his Name shirts for Sarah Jessica Parkers character on Sex and the City, and the now infamous Heatherette Carrie t-shirt was featured worldwide in HBOs massive Sex and the City ad campaign. Richie has created Hello Kitty couture, crafted sequined and studded mini dresses for Shirley Manson and Paris Hilton, tattered tees for Pink and Justin Timberlake, and crafty, one-of-a-kind looks for David Beckham, Alicia Keys, and Britney Spears.
Thanks to people like world renowned stylist Patti Wilson and friend and superstar photographer David LaChapelle, Heatherette made a tremendous splash in the fashion industry very early on, receiving editorial credits in such magazines as Vanity Fair, W, Surface, Paper, YM, In Style, ID, Flaunt, Italian Vogue, and Rolling Stone. From his humble nightclub show beginnings to his most recent triumph in the Bryant Park Tents, Richie has kept audiences entertained with his unique mix of tongue-in-cheek glamour and outrageous fun. Richie launched Heatherette internationally, and cultivated friendships with top celebrities the world over. Fans of Heatherette include Mariah Carey, Tommy and Andy Hilfiger, Russell Simmons, P. Diddy, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Osbourne, John Galliano, Mary J.
